I love to travel and see new things but for our 2nd anniversary, I wanted my husband to experience something I would do as a kid. Some of my fondest memories of my grandparents were when we would get in their RV and go camping in Junction City, KS. We'd take the boat out, eat freshly caught fried fish, and just hang out in the RV (I called it a "camper" when I was a kid, must be a midwest thing).
I remember how connected with nature I felt and how it seemed all problems just drifted away on the drive to the lake. So for our anniversary, I planned a trip to the Redwoods in Northern California.
After a plane ride with Shakespeare in tow and a ton of luggage (I told you all it was glamping; I packed blankets, sheets, towels, the roku, you name it), we made it to San Francisco. Next up was a short Uber ride to pick up the RV, then a 6 hour drive through Northern California. It was amazing. The trees, the scenery, the fresh air.
We camped at a small RV park in Trinidad, CA. Trinidad was beautiful, there's an amazing beach there and some nice eateries. We cooked in the RV and on the fire pit. I think my husbands favorite part was roasting smores.
